Jamie Ratledge, is the co-founder and managing partner of Wilson Ratledge. Mr. Ratledge advises and represents individuals, businesses and corporations in workers’ compensation claims, employment benefit matters, and general commercial litigation. He has been recognized as one of America’s Top 100 Attorneys, a recognition which is based upon a broad array of criteria, including peer review, third-party research and analysis, professional experience, ethical standards, significant case results, reputation and community impact. Since 2006, he has been recognized as a North Carolina “Super Lawyer” by a national periodical which recognizes the top 5% of the state’s attorneys based upon a statewide poll of practicing attorneys. He was also recognized in the Corporate Counsel Edition as a lawyer for business litigation. He has earned Martindale-Hubbell’s “AV” rating, the highest possible rating from the only nationally recognized rating system for lawyers. Mr. Ratledge is also a DRC Certified Mediator.
Mr. Ratledge graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts. While in college, he received the President’s Scholarship and was a Lyndon Banes Johnson Scholar. After graduation, Mr. Ratledge worked for United States Congressman James McClure Clarke in Washington, D.C. Thereafter, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor.
Mr. Ratledge began his practice representing businesses and corporations in product liability actions as well as banking and financial institutions in transactional claims. Beginning in the early 2000’s, Mr. Ratledge began representing individuals, trusts and families who had been placed in abusive tax shelters which had been created and promoted by well-known blue-chip accounting, law and banking firms and were marketed as a tax strategy to create losses to offset capital gains from the sale of businesses. The individual cases, and a class-action, resulted in significant recoveries to the parties in New York, North Carolina, Florida and on the West Coast.
Mr. Ratledge has also lectured and taught extensively on workers’ compensation and employment law to state and local governments, industrial and manufacturing associations, business owners and management, risk managers, adjusters, medical professionals at seminars and at the North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference.
